SERVICES

Gastroenterology Consultations

At Charlton Digestive Disease Centre, we provide comprehensive consultations for patients referred by their family doctors for digestive issues. Our team of professionals conducts thorough examinations to accurately diagnose health challenges and develop personalized treatment plans aimed at significantly improving our patients' health and well-being.

Upper Endoscopy

An upper endoscopy, also known as an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, is a procedure used to visually examine your upper digestive system for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Our advanced technology allows us to provide accurate diagnoses and effective treatments with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is a vital exam used to detect changes such as swollen or irritated tissues, polyps, or cancer in the large intestine (colon) and rectum.

During the procedure, a long, flexible tube called a colonoscope is inserted into the rectum. A tiny video camera at the tip allows the doctor to view the inside of the entire colon.

If necessary, polyps or other abnormal tissues can be removed, and tissue samples (biopsies) can be taken during the colonoscopy for further analysis.

A colonoscopy is performed to check for:

  • Colon cancer or polyps
  • The cause of rectal bleeding or blood in the stool
  • The cause of dark or black stools
  • The cause of chronic diarrhea
  • The cause of iron deficiency anemia
  • The cause of unexplained and sudden weight loss
  • The cause of abnormal results from a stool test or a barium enema test
  • Diagnosing and/or monitoring inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
